Vlad Pavelin

Vlad Pavelin never planned on becoming a jewelry designer. He was following an ordinary and predictable path into adulthood until, driven by little more than an unreasonable sense of confidence, he decided to pursue a life that felt more consequential. Jewelry was an unlikely choice, but his reasoning was simple: life rarely waits until one is prepared.

RUSBARON emerged from his study of Slavic and broader Eurasian culture, and from a recurring question: why were these distinct cultural traditions so often absorbed into Western European fantasy as a secondary aesthetic? Slavic spirits, folklore, and mythological motifs frequently appear within larger fantasy worlds, yet rarely define the visual language of the world itself. Pavelin conceived RUSBARON as an attempt to reverse that relationship in order to place the Slavic and Eurasian imagination at the center and develop it into an aesthetic world of its own.

The first idea for Hyper-Gotika arrived unexpectedly while Vlad was eating matcha ice cream at a mall in Torrance, California. Years of interest in art, paganism, mythology, and history had seemingly converged into a spontaneous idea. What began as an instinct gradually developed into an aesthetic framework connecting the ancient, the folkloric, and the future.
